What auto-duplex actually saves you
Time and paper. The printer flips each page on its own, so a 40-page report uses 20 sheets and takes one button press instead of two.
Who'll feel the benefit
Anyone printing reports, multi-page documents, or shared drafts. For occasional one-page printing it doesn't matter. For everyone else, it pays for itself in paper within months.
What you trade
Auto-duplex devices are slightly slower per logical page because the unit pauses to flip the sheet. On modern designs the delay is usually under a second. The paper savings dwarf the time cost.
